AAPL-related - this is my new phone:

I haven't used an iPhone, largely because I have an ethical problem with granting anybody, even Apple, a monopoly over anything, or granting them absolutely stupid profit margins in a business full of reasonable alternatives.

While my Nokia has its flaws, it does almost everything I was interested in getting out of a smartphone, and it does it at a fraction of the cost. Not just the upfront sticker price, either. It is considered a "phone-first" device and so is not required to have the expensive monthly plans that most smartphones have.

Even without any data plan whatsoever, I can use the on-board GPS for navigation within the U.S. straight out of the box.

When I see stuff like this, I wonder if the iPhone might not be peaking. People *are* becoming a little more cost-sensitive these days.

Who knows, I'm prolly F.O.S. Nobody I know seems to think twice before dropping $100 on a dinner out when there are $25 alternatives, even if they're going deeper into debt or digging further into savings every month in order to do so. Life's too short, right? <S>
