Feldstein, Krugman Agree: Another War Would Help

nationaljournal.com

EDIT: WW2 ended The Great Depression because the wealthy were taxed at 90+ per cent rates. Money was redistributed to the masses and middle class working in the war effort. The wealthy then came up with schemes to sell toys, trinkets, entertainment, and bogus investments to the masses to retrieve the wealth. They got it back. Now some way has to be found to get wealth to the masses so that the wealthy can start the fleecing process again.

Every fiscal stimulus proposal, such as infrastructure investment, potentially producing thousands of jobs, has been opposed by the republicans, ostensibly because it adds to the deficit.Quite ironic (and worse) the party that presided over buildup of gargantuan deficits for 8 years under Bush, has now found religion,no matter at what cost to the nation They are banking on voters short memories to return to power and,if successful, assuring a political stalemate and dead end, until they get thrown out again two years later.
