I agree with your analysis, and would not be surprised to find out it is being worked on right now. Have often thought how much better the planet might be if the majority of the population was sterile. If you could produce a virus that could tell how many pregnancies had gone to fruition and stopped a woman's reproductive process at two or three, that would be ideal. People would cry no fair but who cares? If it was irreversible and everyone had it then no one is gaining an advantage.

It might also put the damper on some of these stupid wars. If you couldn't have 12 children to replace the dead then you might think twice about starting a war.
