If you are lucky your cockraoch was one of the huge sewer pipe loving vaiety (German?) and not the ubiquitous kitchen loving kind. I saw one of those large dark brown beasties on the stucco of our house next to the water meter. Then I read an article about them in the local paper. Seems they abound in the water mains/sewers/etc. They don't bother homeowners much.
