Ted, > Did you miss the paragraph below that was in the article?

No, but apparently you did, even after copying-and-pasting the relevant sentence:

> Independent researchers, however, found huge overestimates in the air board's work on diesel emissions and attributed the flawed work to a faulty method of calculation - NOT the economic downturn.

Gone through the article 3 times but can't find the above paragraph. At the worst, the recession coupled with their miscalculations have played havoc with their numbers. The CARB has an excellent rep but its not above making mistakes. But now you all have your chance to completely denigrate the agency publicly and ask for its dismantling. Go for it and make your party proud.

I've been following this story for months before the MSM picked up on it.

Oh you mean......the Weekly Standard or Fox News have been following the story closely? Because they are such superb journalists? Yeah right!

CARB got caught fudging the data (thanks to a lead scientist who isn't even a scientist), and now they're stuck making excuses and putting up a half-assed job of cleaning house.

That guy was involved in another issue and not the one under discussion in the article. Besides, people lie on their resumes all the time. When CARB caught it, they should have told the public immediately. Of course, that gives the party of NO a chance to crucify them in public. See how that works, Ten, we have a party that wants to destroy anything based on fact and science.....so the scientists have become very careful......too careful.
