Shopping the same day the checks come every month, does not equal, or imply, or prove, or clearly illustrate, that this aid is the only way they can eat. In worse downturns in the past people ate without food-stamps. I'm not really arguing against food stamps, but the level of spending on them, is not solely, and not really even mostly, at least not overwhelmingly, driven by the amount of desperate need for food.
