This R candidate is blaming his supporters for his poor showing in the polls. Rs are crazier than loons. Are you crazy, Ten?

Dan Maes: It's your fault for loving me

By Laura Conaway - Tue Oct 12, 2010 9:31 AM EDT.

Republican Dan Maes has a novel explanation for what's gone wrong with his campaign for the governorship of Colorado. From the Denver Post:

Maes, who these days is careful to describe himself as "a small-business guy," believes his followers built him up on their own and now he's suffering the consequences.

"People were so desperate for someone pure that had character and integrity," Maes said. "They saw a guy they really trusted and believed every word I said. They turned me into something surreal to them."

Or as a Post opinion writer puts it, Dan Maes blames his supporters for believing in him. The reason Colorado's GOP is at risk of losing major-party status couldn't possibly have anything to do with that whole secret agent, etc. Right?
