Rowan:
Moore was thought to be the saving factor by middle management. When he resigned or was bounced the moral at SPTR fell to an all time low.
The presidents of the divisions are yes men to the CEO,Chairman,Founder, and Majority stockholder. They are a large part of the problem since RJ can cover and protect them.
The expansion at Specialty was small potatoes compared to the expansion at Sturbridge. At specialty they bought A building and moved an existing production line and office emoloyees over to a renovAted building and a new tower. At Sturbridge they are adding 4 towers and new production lines for the towers. They had to double the size of an existing building. If they screw up here there will be major financial problems.RJ thinks of SPTR as the cutting edge of the fiber industry. He is so far behind GLW and other major players in the single mode and multimode fiber business that it isn't even funny. His new multimode and single lines run at less than half the speed of others in the industry.IMHO RJ should go back to Research and leave the management of the business to a profession like Moore.I have no bones to pick with RJ since I have never met him and he might be a very nice person, but he is over his head in running SPTR IMHO.
