It does look precarious here, but could this have something to do with new market leaders coming up? WorldCom has just given what, $50, for MCI. Winstar, in wireless, is now a strong buy, according to Montgomery Sec., with target of $60 within the next year or so.

With revenues going from 40 mil to 400 mil within the next 30 months, not to mention any takeover possibilities, maybe people are seeing more than just a short run up.

I, too, would short it in a minute if I knew when.

Can you tell me what signs we should look for to short CPTL?

Thanks, good luck to all.

Previous posts on this thread indicate that the people here are thinking the same thing.

Neither Froman or myself has talked of selling. Others, once reluctant, have talked of buying.

The only cautionary posts are yours. And I'm still waiting for you to provide me some negative links.

Happily Long CPTL,
Duke

Lucky,

I did read the news article and found it to be a news article taking comments from a couple/few analyst on why this stock has rallied so strongly over the past couple of weeks. One comment stated the possible cause of the rise was the fact investors are becoming aware of the change in revenue recognition for CTC and another comment that stated that CTC was part of the next level of the telecommunications foodchain. But I didn't read any negative implications regarding CPTL in this news article.

With 400+K shares on 11-06-97, 500+K shares on 11-07-97 and 600+K shares on 11-10-97 and the price moved up over a dollar each day, means more people are buying in at higher levels. Sure, there may be no logic to it, but sometimes you have to go with the flow.

Good luck!

Fro

Ok, I'll give you this one...

techstocks.com

However, the only "short" posts I have found are yours. On Roger's thread, you as of yet have not received a reply from anyone. Where are there other posts besides yours for shorting now?

Happily Long CPTL,
Duke

"How much more upside could there be" is a typical statement. Every time I have said this to myself I regretted not buying just at the time I thought it could not go any higher.

Fundamentally CPTL may be fully valued, or even slightly overvalued right now. But momentum is a strong force and it is not so easy to stop. For whatever reason, CPTL's volume has skyrocketed and the price has made 5% or higher gains per day almost every day over the past 10 days during broad market volatility. The most dramatic gains have come in the past three days on accelerated volume. I don't think this train is stopping just yet.

When it does I'm sure you and the other shorts will be waiting. But I think CPTL will more likely find a base than erase its gains.
