<<<I've heard of borrowing stock, selling it short and buying it back later to return to
the lender, but I never heard of buying short. What's that?>>>

Ok, thats what I call it...because when I go short my broker takes my money and its no longer available. So to me I bought short. When you buy futures its either long or short....when you buy shares in a stock you are buying long...to me I'm buying short and the brokerage is borrowing the shares. I guess it is confusing.

What do you call it? Sell short? Buy short?
