EXCEPT if you do like the Salt Shaker said and be disciplined about realizing losses if they go the wrong way. Plus, I would add, trade quickly, taking profits as they are given.

The good thing about buying options is the true limit of risk, the leverage, and the potential of greater return.

"As rule of thumb, don't be buyer of options."

NEVER be a buyer unless you are very very very very very very very confidant of a move to the upside. Something like 80% of options expire worthless. You want to sell the stuff that expires worthless!

CC - yes i generally agree with you on that. For IOC i sold some puts this week, and used 3/4 of the proceeds to buy some calls. Investing without some degree of speculation is too boring for me...and on IOC i like the odds! It being accumalated and under valued on conservative forecasts (mine and bankers).
