<<<Therefore, while I have always thought Ancor will make most of theirmoney in the storage market, I think we can all increase our estimatesof how much business Ancor will derive from the network backbone market and the high performance LAN market>>>
I would think that one of the strengths of FC is its flexibility. It really has multiple uses and is optimized on both sides of the servers. I also believe that FC will migrate to the markets you mention and will be the bonus on top of the SAN.I hope that ANCR stays focused on these markets as well as Storage.Seems like Brenda agrees with us on this one. Brenda seems to be saying that Brocade will be marketing in the areas now a strength of ANCR's, yet they don't seem to have a product that can compete with the MKII in this area.
>>Brenda Christensen, vice president of marketing, said many customers are in the early stages of upgrading client/server networks for
high-bandwidth performance. Christensen rejects the common description
of fabrics as a "storage-area network," saying that Brocade is aiming at complex server/storage networked topologies where data transfer, not mere access to storage, is the goal.<<

Ken H. on conference call sending a message that the SAN would be the main focus(strength of Brocade) for ANCR right now(a good idea considering the OEM's that will be coming up in 1998). Looks like the competition between the two will be fierce as they go showing their goods in each others backyards.
