I personally think most of those reports have little true value that will aid a person in making any informed financial decision. Detailed data mining by subdivision comparing apples to apples might be worth something. Real estate is often unique with many driving factors and sometimes in this information age where so much is just a click away it can be really dangerous.

Might the extremes ups and downs of the tech and RE bubbles/busts can be attributed in part to the age of the internet? Probably would never have gone to such extremes 20-30 years ago IMHO..
