The Phillies Live ...

... to play another day -- or two -- at Citizens Bank Park in the City of Brotherly Love. Game 7 here, should there be one, will be electric. and maybe someone will be flying Ben Franklin's kite..

Yo cuf,

<< We're happy to escape from the City of Brotherly Love with a split. >>

As well you should have been given the condition of the local football team, and winning two straight in AT&T Park must have generated a temporary warm and comfortable feeling. Had they swept at home there would have been some very long glum faces around here although I would have been glad to move on to viewing major fall and winter sports only. The NCAA and NFL football seasons are well progressed as are the NCAA and NHL hockey seasons. I still have trouble sitting through nine or more innings of America's rendition of Cricket even after a 180 game season. I do have to admit to enjoying watching Tim Lincecum pitch, but I'd like to march him and Ricky Fowler off to a military barber.

The Lincecum-Halladay duels didn't quite live up to expectations but Doc had a very gutsy performance pitching 5 innings last evening with a groin pull and Madsen in relief and and Lidge in closing adroitly did what was expected of them after our slumbering and highly paid bats woke up somewhat.

<< Cat got your tongue, Eric? >>

Well, I resisted the temptation to comment here on the Nooners losing their 4th straight on their home grass to the crippled and much concussed Iggles managed by a backup quarterback behind a very patched up O-Line a few weekends back. Had I bet that game I would have taken San Fran. Glad to see them chalking up their 1st win last week though.

The big local (but away) game Saturday features the unbeaten UD Blue Hens (7-0) ranked #2 nationally in 1-AA NCAA football against 4th ranked William & Mary (5-1) so that will make for a nice double header for local couch potatoes who don't make the trip down to Williamsburg, Va and the Tribe is always tough at home.
