Retaliation is quite different from oppression: <the oppressed want above all to imitate their oppressors; they want to retaliate." > There is the well-known Stockholm Syndrome and people are notoriously susceptible to patriotic xenophobic fervour, so there's a glimmer of truth in the idea, but Stockholm Syndrome is not for everyone.
