Be careful not to confuse "majority opinion" with a higher volume and constant repetition....

I'm sure the "majority opinion" on the "heretical theories" of Copernicus in his day and for a long time after stood solidly behind the official position of the church, just as it stands today behind the official stance of governments and green organisations in regard to AGW...

If you believe that the majority are always right in their own time and always honest in expressing their true beliefs then you must believe in witchcraft, eugenics, that almost all wars are right and justifiable, and all religions (even though they can't all be right by the simple logic that there are too many with fundamentally different and contradictory beliefs).
