It's just so unfair that Alaska gets more Coast Guard funding than, say, South Dakota. Why should the entire country have to pay for rescuing the fishermen who catch their dinner? That is soooooooo funny. Thank you. You made my whole point in one sentence.

It's just the way it is. I was trying (clumsily) to make the point that the differences work to the advantage of the economy of a state like Arkansas, and to the disadvantage of a state like California.
