They're not "lying" on that part (i.e, they ARE reserving less). However they're not reserving as much as they should be (by a factor of 10 or more) because the Feds know they are insolvent and are trying to buy time. Bankers always reserve what they are required to and (almost never) more than that. So basically the regulators (operating under Geithner's corrupt apparatus) are to blame.

You speak with such certainty and wave such a broad brush.....all banks are insolvent and everyone is playing a game meant to screw you and me and the rest of the citizens of the US except the bankers. Geithner is corrupt and dishonest, and by proxy so is Obama.

The thing is you have some truth interwoven with a lot of conspiracy material. So it makes your argument plausible. Nonetheless, I choose to go with Door #3.

Had the Feds taken them into receivership, none of that game playing would have been allowed, and we'd be well on our way to a lasting solution and recovery. As it is we're looking at 10-15 years of reduced lending and zombiefied bank activity. Exactly what happened in Japan AFA the banking system is concerned. A shame, to be sure. The problem was dealt with as a bank CEO/politician (Paulson) would have it solved rather than as a bank examiner would have it solved. Entirely wrong.

I don't agree with you. The US is letting banks fail. The largest S&L was allowed to fail. I know.....Seattle paid a dear price for that failure. Japan did not allow its banks to fail.....it kept propping them up. There are other differences between Japan and the US......esp between the two cultures......too numerous for this forum.

Again, I say to you......I think you are too negative and your concerns are directed at the wrong people. You should be more worried about how the USSC has been bought and paid for by corps. You should be more worried about the people behind Karl Rove and the many millions they are throwing into political campaigns to steal.....I mean, win these races. You should be worried about the nutjobs who are running for the Senate under a flag with the teapot on it. Instead, you serve these overlords with your fantasies about what Geithner and Obama are doing to this country.

Bottom line: We are in trouble but not for the reasons you seem to think. ALL IMO of course.
