I learned a couple of things during and after the dotcom boom and bust. I learned that things are never going to be as good as the fanatic optimists think. I learned that things are never going to be as bad as the doomsayers think. and this has been confirmed over and over and it applies to any polarized topic. Obama isn't as bad as the rightwing thinks and he certainly isn't as good as the left wing thinks. Global warming isn't going to cause the end of life as we know it on the planet Global warming isn't something that is completely benign and shouldn't be ignored (whether anthro or not) and finally The energy situation probably isn't as benign as I may think but it isn't as dire as you think The world isn't ending and it isn't turning into a garden of eden. Life goes on.
