And the lack of a state income tax does not mean that Texas does not make up for their lack of revenue from that source thru several other, generally more regressive taxes and fees.

So do you want a State with a slightly regressive sales tax that is thriving financially or a financial basket case like California? .......The Blue state Washington also has no income tax but gets most of its revenue from a sales tax - so it isn't just a red state way of taxation. California problem is the same as the federal government in thinking you can get something and not provide an adequate way to pay for it.

Precisely. Someone might want to check just which states have the best public education programs. Those are the ones that should be emulated.
