People fiddling with their phones have walked into trains -- radio just doesn't drug the brain in the same way. Ear buds isolate a person. We have an entire generation which has rarely heard "No" but they can barely take care of themselves and have few opportunities compared to the past 100 years and even greater burdens in terms of future costs -- housing, medical, education, food. Sorry to offend some people here no doubt but last weekend when I found out there was an actual Sports "program" devoted to the unveiling of the BCS rankings, I had to weep for my people. It's no wonder that the elite can keep grabbing for more. We truly are a checked out, spectator nation.
