To: chowder who wrote (14591 ) 10/21/2010 7:55:29 PM From: JimisJim Respond to of 29241 I think Petco is a lovely stadium downtown, but ticket and concession prices went way up... and for us natives, even those of us who try NOT to drive to games, it can be quite a task getting to Petco and home again... unless you are staying downtown over night, but that adds to the cost... <ggg> Seriously, I've been to 3-4 games at Petco and each time via different transport and finally determined that there's just no easy way to get there from here (my home), which is a big part of why I've only been to 3-4 games there since they opened it. As dismal as the Reds typically have been since their new stadium, it is much much easier and cheaper to get there, get a good seat and enjoy a game than Petco is. FWIW: it is easier for me to get to an Angels game, more than 60 miles north of me than Petco... during the one interleague series the Reds played in Anaheim a few years ago, I simply walked 4 blocks to the light rail stop, took it to Oceanside and hopped an Amtrak Surfliner express to Anaheim where there is a station stop right in the parking lot of the stadium, walked in to the stadium and had as many beers as I wanted and not have to drive home. Dodger stadium is a bit more difficult, but after I had the sense to go along with a couple of LA natives, they showed me the secret places to park for free (and safely) within walking distance of the stadium and with ample opportunities along the way to buy peanuts cheap and take them in (they still allow that in LA) as an appetizer before wolfing down a Dodger dog while enjoying the view of Hef's private box just a few rows in front of us -- oh, and the stadium, once you get inside is one of the more beautiful. It's been over 15 years since I've been to Wrigley, but still my favorite ballpark... though I admit I've never been to a game at either the old or new Yankee stadium -- I have been to Fenway, but it was the late '70s... I'm not biased because a stadium is old... I used to go to games at Crosley Field and don't really miss the view obstructions and horrible seats, and I certainly don't miss the old Tiger Stadium in Detroit... I think the White Sox stadium is one of the only ones I've never been to west of the Alleghenies and not in Texas... I think Fenway is the only one I've been to east of them... Gotta go, NLCS game about to start... Jim
