It'll destroy the market. The reason a weed which grows anywhere from Alaska to the equator brings $2500/lb is that is is illegal. Price has already dropped about 50% since the Med Mary Initiative passed about 10 years ago. They are figuring it might drop to 1K. Can't make up the difference in price by increasing volume, either. It's been "Well, I'm getting less money so I'm growing more this year" for a few years. Doesn't work out too well when everybody else does it too. Lots of folks get 20 bucks cash per hour trimming. With indoor scenes going year round, you can make a good living. Some growers were paying 25 bucks. Those jobs are gonna go.
