All tables and Smartphones will become like Casio watches.

People will own then by kilograms.

Prices will sink real good.

Hi Bill, All....

The HP Slate 500 design has some telling features and omissions. In particular, and rather surprisingly for a tool being framed for the business end user, there is no "wired" Ethernet port. How telling is that, in terms of where the world is going? And for enterprise applications, in particular?

In my pursuit to gain a better understanding of the rationale behind this development (or lack of development, depending on one's perspective), I came across an interesting comparison between the Slate 500 and a newly released competitive tablet from PandaWill of China - which does support a wired Ethernet port, in addition to WiFi, as well as many other capabilities lacking in the Slate 500:

Win 7 10” Tablet (from PandaWill) unboxing
Posted by Rich Bilancia on October 23, 2010

"On Thursday, October 21st, the same day that the release and specifications of the HP Slate 500 were officially confirmed by HP, DHL delivered to me a 10” capacitive touch tablet running Windows 7. This tablet was provided by China-based PandaWill.com. This posting is primarily my unboxing report of the device, but because of the similarity of the device with the HP Slate 500 I am including a table comparing the specifications of the two devices. My full review will follow in several days. Comparison to the HP Slate 500:"
