>>Stoners against
The Legalization of Pot<<

I've been thinking about our earlier exchange on this matter.

While I sympathize with the pot farmers of Mendocino County, and their desire to keep their large tax-free incomes, I can't support a public policy that makes such lucrative careers possible by prosecuting people who are doing something that harms no one.

Who was it who recently pointed out on this forum that we live in a society, and can't think only of ourselves when deciding matters of public concern?

Bootleggers were put out of business by the passage of the 21st amendment to the constitution. I doubt that you would have preferred to keep prohibition in place just so they wouldn't have to look for other ways to make a living.

Another point I thought of is that I think the pot growers are trying to have it both ways. They would like pot to remain illegal, but I'm guessing that they don't want anybody stepping up enforcement against cultivators.
