3.1g wd drive for $199
3.2g ibm drive for $275

which do most people purchase?

most people do not care the mr/non-mr drive, next people look at price, size, rpm, and cache.

Why would I want to spend $275 for a 3.2 G IBM drive or for that matter anything higher. I do a lot of analysis but do not need more than 3.2G.

I have heard versions of this argument for fifteen years. 'Nuff said.
