Well, like Bageant, I'm angry and frustrated and want to leave, but unlike him I can't get up enough gumption to do it given family ties and what not. I like to think that if I had fewer attachments, I would be playing the part of the grumpy old gringo in some faraway dusty bar right now. But for now, Bageant's lifestyle will just have to be a ideal to ever strive for but probably never quite achieve. In fact, we should all take a vow to be more Bageant like and work towards dropping out, living on the fringe, sniping at the powers be and in general doing our best to starve the beast by making ourselves as unprofitable to the elite class as possible. As for Facebook and related, it scares the hell out of me. We are getting closer and closer to plugging ourselves in 24/7 to a reality created for us by people who I am sure are not exactly looking out for our best interests. And the database, by God what a database, they are going to map out every relationship and connection and affiliation and opinion of an entire population complete with full names and addresses. The next Hitler is going to have a field day with that database...
