<<off topic>> I traveled in Japan and SE Asia for three months in 1991, and only had reservations in only one country, Japan. Only reason I'm going to HK is because my girlfriend has a good friend there. Bali, however, was my choice. Of all the places I went, Bali was my favorite, followed closely by Java and Thailand. Will do my best do avoid the Aussie party town of Kuta, but staying at Poppies is kind of a treat. I avoid the major resorts like the plague. Renting a jeep and getting into the little towns is my kind of travel (Lonely Planet fanatic). Last time I stumbled upon a funeral procession, and was invited to join the festivities (for those of you that have never been to Bali, funerals are huge celebrations). Arguing over 50 cents is not a good use of my time, but bargaining is a social interaction, so I do it to get in touch with the locals. I could go on and on about that part of the world, but I'll save the bandwidth. Bagus!

CULVER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 1997--GlobeCast North America today announced that it has entered into a long-term agreement with IBM to provide video content distribution services. GlobeCast will use IBM Video Services to offer broadcasters terrestrial transmission services as well as new and enhanced services made possible when video content is digitized. IBM Video Services, which provides ATM-based, real-time MPEG-2 content distribution over a private network, offers broadcasters quality video transmission services. With IBM Video Services, GlobeCast is offering television networks, stations, cable networks, news agencies and sports organizations a flexible and cost-effective alternative to its extensive satellite distribution network.

"Combining this market position with IBM's digital content distribution technology gives broadcasters a powerful tool to leverage their video assets and capitalize on new market opportunities."

IBM Video Services is an ATM-based, real-time MPEG-2 content distribution network service that delivers on-air content to time-delayed distribution for the broadcast, media and entertainment industries. IBM Video Services is delivered through the IBM Global Network, one of the world's largest data networks serving 30,000 enterprise customers in over 900 cities and more than 100 countries.

GlobeCast will offer IBM Video Services on both a dedicated and occasional-use basis. The service is available immediately in six cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York and Washington DC, with an additional eight cities scheduled to be added by the first quarter of 1998. All reservations and scheduling of video distribution will be handled through a GlobeCast facility or through a secure, Web-based application running on a personal computer.
