Doug, I don't think you can create a ratio between volume and price change. The principles of volume are simple and can be found in Technical Analysis of Stock Trends by Edwards & Magee (Amazon.com).

In a bull market, price increases (rallies) are accompanied by high volume while decreases (breakdowns) are typically accompanied by low volume.

So, when ASND is up in the morning, on low volume (as typical) that tells me the market is not behind the upward price action. On a decent price move, Ascend has been hitting 15MM shares.

For the downward move (in a bull mkt) low volume is significant - it points to those few that are in the know; the public to follow later. Hope this helps.
