Actually, projected earnings growth changed from positive (an increase in earnings) to negative (a decrease in earnings).

That might explain, in part, why the stock price dropped.

We should all keep in mind that WDC which is clearly having yield problems on its mainstay 1.3 GB, sounds like they are aboting the 1.7 GB/platter and is more exposed under 2GB is doing what companies with internal problems like to do. Blame the industry. Remember this is the DEC qtr and no one disputes that desktop demand is good. Also, the competition that we all fear is not yet as evident as it may become.
