The British Disease was a major problem long before the Argentines invaded Falkland Islands so we can't blame that. Germany and WWI were a problem but such dramas have long been part of life. WWII was also quite a problem but look at Germany and Japan after being laid to waste and how they came back. Perhaps we could blame India for British failure but that seems as sensible as blaming England for India's failure. I'm not going to great lengths. Heck, I have not spent the equivalent of a round of golf on the matter. I'm just correcting some historical misunderstanding by various posters, which amounts to nothing more than racism. <Why go to great lengths to defend them where they failed in India? > India is who failed in India, not Great Britain. That faker Ghandi, who swapped his swindling lawyer's suit for a swindling toga, thought he was clever booting out the English, but before he died, and as he died, he became aware that India wasn't all that great at managing its own affairs. The poverty and mess continued for over half a century. Kashmir today is a mess. Which is not to say England should have remained at the helm. If they didn't vote 90% to keep Queen Elizabeth II in charge, then best to say "Bye, have fun" and leave them to it. Great Britain was in charge in India for a very long time. The USA with only 5% of the world's population is doing an even better job, though lately they have run aground. Swarms of Indians are signing up as we speak, to "gift" their lives to The American Empire. "Please, please, take me!! I swear fealty, loyalty, blood sweat and tears. We will fight them on the beaches ..." No, wait, wrong Empire. <More likely, they went downhill because they could not enjoy the gifts of other people's labor any more. > It would be nice if some Indians would gift their labour to me, but there doesn't seem to be a queue down the driveway. They are piling into Google, Qualcomm, Motorola and The American Empire in general. I will send you an application form - you can be my first "gifter". Heck, with enough such volunteers, we could have an empire ourselves. You could be Main Maharajah in charge of gifting. Let's cut to the chase. I hereby offer you the position. Mqurice
