ALL, K6 is definitely NOT susceptible to the F0 bug. I just tried it and Windows 95 trapped the illegal opcode. To test your computer, see my previous post.

ALL multiuser Unix systems running on Intel Pentium (including MMX) processors are vulnerable to the 'F0' bug. Any user can bring down the entire multiuser system by typing a few lines on his terminal.

John, re <F0 0F C7 C8> Pentium bug using editor.

This code is not perfect because it has no entry/exit code. Therefore, even on good processors, it will lock-up under plain DOS. This may lead to some false conclusions among illiterate part of PC user (like those who "rules" their computers:-)). However, on a good processor under DOS this program can be terminated by "soft reset" while on Pentuums you need to "hard reset" or power the PC down.

Regards,

Ali
