It really no longer matters who gets elected. The cures are political suicide which means no politician will go anywhere near them and there aren't any statesmen on the horizon. Senator Monahan was the last statesman in the government. He realized in his later life that the bi-partisen progreesive agenda was growing generations of citizens solely dependent on the government from the cradle to the grave.
