A players manager? I'm not sure. If I remember correctly, he had some issues when to pull starting pitchers. He also had to deal with some aging players... Gonzo and Finely come to mind. He knows his baseball, being a catcher. And, he rides a mtn bike for exercise in Phx/Scottsdale (he can't be all that bad!).

What I don't get is nary a network picked him up as an analyst, as far as I know. Perhaps he doesn't speak well to an audience.
