AMD leapt ahead of Intel when it beat Intel to copper by close to 2 years (while Intel was panicked about "copper contamination"). Now AMD is trying to use Z-Ram to do it again.

Dan, AMD didn't "leap ahead" by 2 years. They need copper 2 years earlier.

If (a big if) Z-Ram works out Intel will be in a very difficult since they are a good 3-4 years behind AMD in working with SOI and gate first. SOI/gate first is a requirement for fabbing Z-Ram CPUS.

Come back when AMD has a working process. They're years late and it's still nowhere in sight.

"Innovative Silicon, Inc. (ISi) is a fast-growing, venture-backed company that develops and licenses the Z-RAM® memory technology. Innovative Silicon has attracted over $50M in venture financing to date, has built a world-class team of technologists, and has been granted over 50 patents to date on the Z-RAM technology. The company has also recently enhanced its Z-RAM technology to work on bulk silicon without requiring silicon-on-insulator (SOI) substrates."

If AMD does have working z-ram they probably have a 1 year lead against Intel because z-ram can be now used with Bulk.
