I have been running QT on two separate computers for about ten days. One is using a feed from TD Ameritrade, and the other one with a feed from DTN IQ. There is a difference. DTN IQ is a data provider, and Ameritrade is just providing a service. Everything works with the IQ feed, but with the Ameritrade feed some parts of the program does not work, or does not work properly.

Ameritrade does not reset the volume to zero before each day's trading. IQ feed does. I use the Mkt Cap column, and sometimes the TDA feed works, sometimes not, but the IQ feed always works. AVG Volume works with IQ Feed.

TDA does provide very good quotes. DTN IQ provides good quote data, but there is a charge for every exchange.

TDA gives you level II Pink Sheet service....DTN IQ charges an extra $15, and there is a $5 charge for each exchange. That is a $5 charge for each of the NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ, and then the Pink sheets. Plus they have a basic charge of $30 before they start adding exchange fees.

So with DTN IQ's pricing continuing to go higher each year, I have decided to try TDA which is free.

I have exchanged e-mails a few times with TDA, and I get the impression that they are not going to do very much to improve QT service. They are pushing Think or Swim, but I explained to them that I track hundreds of stocks, and Think or Swim will not work for me.

He did mention that Think or Swim has its own data server, and I asked about letting QT utilize the same server. I did not get anywhere with that one, so I suspect we will have to live with what we have, or start using a paid provider such as DTN IQ.
