I have to say, in the suburban schools in our district, some of the teachers are poor- mostly the older ones, who've run out of the steam necessary to deal with a truly demanding (and physical) profession. There aren't many of them- but if you want to see the ones in your area, go to "Rate my Teacher.com". I have found the ratings are fairly good. You don't want to look at teachers with very few ratings- but when they have 5 or more you can tell what the teachers are like. When they are good teachers you'll see things like "This teacher is hard, but she really wants you to learn." Or "I love XXXXXX, he made science fun."

And the bad teachers are reported in all their glory. "XXXXX never gets out of his chair". "XXXX has a thick accent and I can't understand him"- etc.

Average teacher quality at our school is almost 4- which is quite good. 146 of our teachers have been rated.
