And why would Bell Atlantic not have anything to do with US West just coz. they're in different parts of the country - all the more reason they would want to have something to do with each other. The very same reasons BT would want to do business with a US Carrier. Another one which has a very high probability is BA with AirTouch - they work very closely together - buy equipment together, implement products together, same technology and even own PrimeCo together. Nothing to do with WSTL - but a very high likelyhood of a merger/acquisition here.
