Job's answer about NC

Q: There was a lot of speculation going into this announcement
that you would be talking about network computers or an alliance.

A: I've heard everything: I've heard NCs, I've heard Oracle,
I've heard Lucent . . .

Q: What was that about?

A: I have no idea. I don't know why people make this stuff up.
I've only met one guy from Lucent in my life for five minutes.
I don't know where they get this stuff.

Q: At least they're interested.

A: Right, that's exactly what I say. At least they're interested.

Q: What about the lower-priced end of the spectrum. The lowest-priced
computer you announced today was about $2,000.

A: You're exactly right. The interesting thing is that Apple has lost the focus on products at the low end of the consumer price points and I think that's a mistake.

Q: So you're going to fix that?

A: I hope we're going to fix that early next year.

Q: Is that where NCs come into play?

A: Who knows. I don't comment on that stuff.

Q: Do you want to generally tell me what you think about the NC concept?

A: No. We announced so much new stuff today, and that's enough.

So now maybe the stock will rise?

Now Apple is out of the way. Thank goodness.
