There are "preconditions", but using a larger context no one cause." First: There is a big difference between a universe with "no one cause" and an uncaused, eternal, physical, universe. Second by definition: an effect is the result of a causal agent. Third: How can there be any preconditions before anything existed to be conditioned in the first place?
