MS: DOJ aims to stall upgrades news.com

Yeah, right, with Windows97 slipping later into 98 all the time, it's all a Nixonian dirty trick. Janet Reno should go wash her mouth out with soap, then she might understand that integrity and uniformity thing better.

In a 48-page brief filed with the U.S. District Court last night, the software company said, "the petition is aimed squarely at preventing Microsoft from including improved features and functionality in upgraded versions of Windows 95."

Rather than try to fetter Microsoft's development, the brief contends that the "DOJ should be encouraging Microsoft to disseminate such new technologies to consumers as quickly and as broadly as possible."

Yeah, get with the program Janet, what's good for Microsoft is good for the world. I don't think there's anything new here, just the standard stuff, I'm sure the whole filing is available at www.microsoft.com for your reading pleasure and entertainment.

'Even a casual reading of the (court order) makes it abundantly clear that Microsoft retains unfettered freedom to create integrated products,'' the lawyers said.

We'll see what the judge has to say about that. There seems to be plenty of people who disagree.

Cheers, Dan.
