At least they will have to get specific now.

That will be a refreshing change from the mumbled evasions we heard from most Republican candidates the last two months.

Of course, they could also do the pose and posture thing by passing cuts they know would never get through the Senate or Obama, and crow about their virtue later in the 2012 campaign.

I would give those two outcomes 50% each odds of happening, given the juvenile nature of our political process nowadays.

And while we are playing stupid games, our economic rivals will be forging long-term strategies for the future and moving forward to put the recession behind them - Brazil, China, India, Europe.....

They go forward, we go back or run around in circles. Guess who wins?

Cutting spending, lol. Let's see what cuts he proposes. At least they will have to get specific now.

To repeat myself, the most interesting vote to me will be the one on the debt ceiling. Should come in early spring.
