I present my serious comments in a sincere and reasoned manner with consideration of principle. I have confidence in my positions and if I am challenged on them I consider the rationale, or lack there of, contained in the challenge. Empty allegations and unsubstantiated personal comments do not qualify as worthy challenges. So, when that is all you provide it is easy to dismiss them without comment. There is no ego involved in any of that except maybe yours when you get all wrapped up in your hurt feelings. Perhaps you are confusing confidence with ego. Confidence is founded on knowledge of one's competency levels and a history of success. A healthy ego is founded on much the same thing but also on a sense of self worth. When someone has an inflated sense of self worth they have an unhealthy ego which you might label as a 'big' ego. An over inflated or underdeveloped ego has a negative effect on people who usually become known for weird acting out behavior. My ego is not unhealthy or big at all but I do have a realistic sense of my own use of reason, which I am always willing to have tested. When someone shows me a flaw in my reasoning, I modify and adjust my reasoning accordingly, which doesn't always translate into an agreement with the other person. When someone shows me a weakness in my position on principle I make corrections there also. On these threads the discussion rarely rises to that level so it is even simpler, ignore the junk talk and correct the inaccuracies.

"You must have an ego as big as a house."

You are mistaken.
