Your view has already been clearly stated. "The people don't know what they are talking about." When I commented on the validity of such a statement in a country where the government exists by the people, for the people, and of the people, you accused me, ironically, of having a big ego.

There are many perspectives on what a nanny state is and I condensed the idea with respect to your comment ... "A nanny state perspective is one in which the people are incapable of knowing what is good for them so the state must take on that role." Of course I had to do some study of the concept in order to do that, which again reflects on your bashings in an ironic manner. It is logical to conclude that if the people do not know what is good for themselves then the state must take on that role as social protectionist.
