NPR was a lot better twenty years ago. But repeated threats to cut their funding (by the GOP leadership) helped them get religion. They have programs with great human interest stories, and they cover more stuff in depth, but they suck in true investigative journalism, like nearly everybody else. The Smithsonian ought to create an exhibit showing an excavation of a newspaper office with things the Millennials will never know -- e.g. an investigative reporter.
