Good question. Even if the end result is gridlock, House Republicans need to demonstrate that they are committed to smaller, less intrusive government.

I don't think the Rs are going to halt the raising of the debt ceiling, though. That would mean eliminating the deficit altogether, like in one year, which is utterly impractical.
