And all the handlers of the US govt care about is their own wealth and power. Ditto for high ranking officials in govt. Most corrupt western country in the world. Trillions for banksters and not a care about the rest of us. Elections are a complete farce. No positive change in 20 elections, just continued assault on and reduction of liberty. Only armed revolution will change it.

I wasn't making a comment on the morality of the Government's policy. (Gotta say what they are doing is pretty clever though, sneaking this by.)

Basically I'm trying to work out in my head where to invest in the Alt Energy area.

The implications of the government giving away massive amounts of land/leases for cheap probably means that almost all solar/wind companies are going to grab for it and benefit from it while they can. They are rushing to pick up all that free cash. Who wouldn't?

Likely leaving the home market and other markets to languish for awhile. I'm not really the kind of investor who would put money into utilities like these large scale desert projects. I'm looking for proprietary advantage.

Even though I'm a desert enthusiast, and I believe large areas absolutely should be preserved, there is a lot of it. All energy production affects the environment negatively but given a choice solar and wind seem better than fossil or nuclear.

Energy conservation of course is the most moral thing to do.
