Oh, no messing with passports then?

Nope, no passport required. You will be the ambassador from the holler in perpetuity.

sounds good. When central CA runs dry and can't grow crops anymore, maybe we can do some trading for things y'all get short on.

Good point. We need to annex central CA for its food crops. I almost forgot. <g>

Latinos claiming betrayal by Obama Administration

Janet Napolitano’s All Out Assault on the Latino Community and Obama’s 2012 Re-Election Prospects
Posted on 05 November 2010 by oscar

Latinos in this country are in very big trouble and it is not because the Republicans took over the U.S. House of Representatives. Obama appointee Janet Napolitano is hell bent on bringing Arizona’s SB1070 to every jurisdiction in the United States by 2013 with a program called S-Comm. (S-Comm is officially called “Secure Communities” a misnomer of Orwellian proportions if there ever was one because the program destroys communities and systematically undermines public safety).

Napolitano left her position as Governor of Arizona to serve as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Since her appointment Latinos across the country have been a whole lot less secure regardless of their immigration status. It is becoming increasingly evident that Napolitano is more interested in her personal political future when she returns to Arizona than the civil rights and liberties of Latinos across this country.

Mr. President, Ms. Napolitano has got to go along with S-Comm!

Napolitano has brought her special Arizona brand of doing business to the federal stage. She has expanded a policy started under the Bush Administration that was originally sold as targeting harden criminals and serious felons for deportation. It was supposed to voluntarily enlist local law enforcement assistance in identifying undocumented criminals for deportation. Because of Ms. Napolitano’s gross mismanagement and complete disregard for congressional intent and laws governing how federal agencies administer programs, S-Comm has become Arizona’s SB1070 on steroids at the federal level.

It is now well documented that S-Comm encourages racial profiling of U.S. citizen Latinos as well as immigrants.

Despite Napolitano’s best efforts to suppress the information, a lawsuit filed under the Freedom of Information Act dislodged from Napolitano’s grubby clutches that from October 2008 to June 2010 a full 79 percent of individuals deported through S-Comm had no criminal record or were arrested for a minor offense like a traffic violation.

Has this President ever heard of the phrase “driving while black” as an illegal basis for stopping African Americans? Napolitano is implementing a program that encourages any local officer who suspects some Brown person is here illegally, to stop them for a minor traffic violation, haul them into the station, finger print them, and detain them. Worse yet, S-Comm has been forcibly imposed on local jurisdictions even if they object to carrying out Napolitano’s dirty work because it undermines public safety, creates fear of local law enforcement in minority communities, and is an unfunded obligation. Napolitano will not reimburse local jurisdictions for costs associated with detaining suspects or for lawsuits when jurisdictions are slapped with lawsuits for illegal racial profiling. Lil’ Janet’s people just say: too bad.

So this is how the President and the Democrats thank the Latino community for saving Colorado, Nevada, and California? This President went to Los Angeles and lectured Latinos on the need for them to vote to support their friends and punish their enemies. The Latino community is not without options, Mr. President. The Republican party has three major contenders for the VP slot in 2012: Marco Rubio, Brian Sandoval, and George P. Bush. All three are more serious about comprehensive immigration reform than you have been. And, before you get on your bully pulpit, please note that several days after Reid unveiled his immigration reform policy you said there is no appetite for comprehensive immigration reform. Well, Mr. President, I suggest that you get your house in order and address the cynical, self-serving, illegal, anti-Latino policies of Janet Napolitano. Her unbelievable mismanagement flies in the face of the rule of law, fairness, and morality.

This is the first of many articles that will be written about this Administration’s S-Comm program, efforts to address the proliferation of SB1070, and his 2012 prospects in the likely face of a Latino running mate to the 2012 Republican ticket.
