Socialism or Capitalism, HMOs like the Kaiser here are the future OK, but not if this is accomplished through government price controls on services. The reason Kaiser can do what they are doing is because they arbitrage the misallocation of funds by the government. That's also the reason I get paid far better now than when I was in practice - relatively overpaid hospitals can afford to add funds in addition to my billing revenue. I have nothing against HMO's or any other ways of offering healthcare. Let the ef-ing government get out of the business of micromanaging every breath people take, and let's see where open competition takes us. Whatever it is, it will be better than a corrupt committee deciding every detail and handing it down for the entire nation.
