Howard,

<< David, re Bateman's discovery of the Secret of One-Eighth....
good advice, but I think you just don't get it. He has to pick
a single price, or the commissions would kill him. Although, how
do you calculate commisions using complex arithmetic?
(BM shares = sqrt{ -1} * posted shares ?). >>

One way to beat the commission problem is to pick a broker that has flexible terms and rates.

I use Fidelity and trade on the Internet for $14.95 for 1000 shares.
Now although the rate isn't the lowest what they do is aggregate all your trades for a given stock during the day and give you one price.

eg. 2 buy orders of 500 shares each of MU will only cost $14.95. Even 10 orders of 100 shares each is $14.95....When you go over 1000 shares in one day they just add 3 cents per share up to $14.95....so 1100 shares will be $17.95.

This type of billing allows you to average your shares with negligible added costs.

Good Luck Trading
